PowerThe technical preview of Microsoft's Office 2010 has been met, for
the most part, with favorable reviews. Keep in mind, however, that this is
only a technical preview, not even a beta release.
So just what is so outstanding about Office 2010? The collaboration
features, for one. Using SharePoint, and Office 2010 applications, users
have realtime-based communications via Outlook and can share and
simultaneously edit Word, Excel and other Office documents.
Another great leap is the integration of Web 2.0. Microsoft's business has
been so entrenched in shrink-wrapped products that it's a breath of fresh
air to see the software codger embracing facets of an ever-increasing
cloud-based computing world.
Additions such as being able to embed video from YouTube into PowerPoint,
and making Access databases Web-friendly, proves Microsoft is striving to
adapt to the changing technology climate.
There is also the fact that Microsoft has really listened to its customer
base. The re-engineering of the Office 2007 Ribbon Interface is a step in
the right direction, although there are still some criticisms of the new
